Build community through making.
Making wine, beer, and sake over the years has introduced me to some amazing people and made relationships I will always cherish. Nothing brings real community together like sharing a drink, especially a drink that you’ve made.

I began brewing beer in Austin, TX in the mid-90s pretty much as soon as I was legally able to. After moving to California in the late-90s I discovered wine and sake. Ever the maker, I learned how to produce both at home. A few years later I co-founded a highly successful winemaking club in San Francisco with my partner in crime, Matthew Purdon. Capping out with over 300 members and 7 barrels of wine in Matthew’s garage, we decided it was time to move out of the garage and go legit. We founded Les Voleurs Wines, a professional urban winery based in the Bay Area producing award-winning wine. Some of rewards we received include 92+ points in Wine Spectator Magazine and Golds in the SF Chronicle Wine Competition. After a solid run, we decided to shut down the winery and now I’ve gone back to my roots: making wine, beer, and sake at home and teaching the joys of this process to others. Come join this amazing community of makers and artisans!
“What an amazing class! From building the recipe to bottling the finished sake. I never knew brewing at home could be so easy. I’m on my way to becoming a real Toji!”
